Dr. Nungari Mwangi

Strategy, Program Development and Partnerships Lead
Dr. Nungari Mwangi is the Strategy, Program Development and Partnerships Lead for the De-risking Agricultural Finance and Climate Resilience team at the African Development Bank based in Nairobi. She is currently working on the development of the Africa Climate Risk Insurance Framework for Adaptation (ACRIFA), a continental climate adaptation financing facility aiming to mobilize $1 billion to de-risk private sector investments in climate insurance solutions in Africa. As part of this work, she is driving the development of the ACRIFA Academy, a solutions platform for capacity building in climate insurance,  and supporting the integration of ACRIFA’s de-risking solutions with the Agri-food SME Catalytic Financing Mechanism (ACFM). Nungari has over a decade of experience in agriculture strategy, structuring invesments, institutional design of capacity building solutions, policy and research in the political economy of agriculture having previously worked at AGRA, Dalberg Global Development Advisors and a range of humanitarian agenices. She has B.A (hons.) in Political Science from Brown University (USA) and an MPhil and PhD in International Development from the University of Cambridge (UK).
