Mrs. Prechhya Mathema

Actuarial Program Strategist , UNDP-Milliman

Prechhya Mathema works as an actuarial program strategist for the UNDP-Milliman Global Actuarial Initiative program (GAIN). She is a UK qualified actuary with 25 years of expertise in actuarial, reinsurance, risk management and regulatory supervision. She has 20 years of experience working in the UK for major institutions such as Prudential UK, Friends Life, Munich Re, Ernst & Young and UK Government Actuary’s Department.

In her last role, she worked for Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA) for 4 years conducting supervision of insurance companies and advising senior leadership on the development of insurance directives and policies. She was also NIA’s technical lead for the development and implementation of Risk-Based Capital and Solvency Regime and Risk-Based Supervision Framework in the Nepalese insurance industry.

She is the founding and current President of the Actuarial Society of Nepal.

The regulatory roundtable will offer senior regulatory officials a platform to exchange insights and gain new perspectives for strengthening actuarial capacity and enhancing the resilience of the insurance sector. The discussion will focus on the value actuaries bring in strengthening the industry, supporting regulatory mandates – including prudential supervision; market development and market conduct– and enhancing overall insurance sector resilience.”
