Susan Melmed is a consulting actuary with Milliman in South Africa. She is a fellow of the Actuarial Society of Africa and holds a life practicing certificate. She has over 15 years of experience including working for a large South African insurance group and in consulting with both KPMG and Milliman. Her areas of expertise include regulatory capital and risk management.

She has a wide range of experience in first line and second line roles having been involved in both first line valuations as well as audit support and Head of Actuarial Function or Appointed Actuary support in South Africa, Namibia and Kenya.

The discussion will focus on the value actuaries bring in strengthening the industry, supporting regulatory mandates – including prudential supervision; market development and market conduct– and enhancing overall insurance sector resilience.”
