Mrs. Wanjiru Kimondo

Programmes Coordinator – COMESA Region, West African Insurance Institute

Wanjiru Kimondo is an accomplished actuary and insurance professional with over a decade of experience in reinsurance underwriting, claims management, actuarial analysis and regulatory compliance across Africa. She currently serves as the Programmes Coordinator for the COMESA Region at the West African Insurance Institute (WAII), where she leads technical program development, stakeholder engagement and strategic capacity-building initiatives across Eastern and Southern Africa.

She holds both a Master of Science and a First-Class Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. Wanjiru is a member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK) and a Chartered Loss Adjuster accredited by the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (UK), where she also serves as a professional examiner.

Prior to joining WAII, Wanjiru spent over 10 years at East Africa Reinsurance Company, where she held progressively senior roles including Senior Client Manager and Actuarial Analyst. In these roles, she led underwriting and claims for non-life reinsurance, oversaw regulatory reporting and compliance functions.

She is also a trainer at the College of Insurance (Kenya) and is widely recognized for her commitment to advancing technical excellence and professional development within Africa’s insurance sector.
